Pristina, July 27, 2021 – Today, Ms. Zeinah Salahi was sworn in as USAID Kosovo Mission Director at a ceremony officiated by USAID Administrator Samanta Power. The U.S. Ambassador to Kosovo Phillip S. Kosnett, USAID acting Assistant Administrator for Europe and Eurasia Margot Ellis, USAID staff, and friends and family participated in the online ceremony.

In her remarks, Administrator Power stated, “Under Zeinah’s leadership, USAID will continue to support civil society and community-based organizations to better represent the needs of Kosovo’s citizens and work with the government to implement citizen-responsive laws and policies.”

Ambassador Kosnett spoke highly of Ms. Salahi’s contributions during her tenure in Kosovo as Deputy Mission Director, and highlighted USAID’s role in Kosovo’s development. He added that under Ms. Zeinah’s leadership he sees a bright future for USAID Kosovo.

On behalf of the American people, USAID promotes and demonstrates democratic values abroad, and advances a free, peaceful, and prosperous world. USAID’s objective is to support partners to become self-reliant and capable of leading their own development journeys, through reducing the reach of conflict, preventing the spread of pandemic disease, and counteracting the drivers of violence, instability, transnational crime, and other security threats.

USAID promotes American prosperity through investments that expand markets for U.S. exports; create a level playing field for U.S. businesses; and support more stable, resilient, and democratic societies. USAID stands with people when disaster strikes or crisis emerges as the world leader in humanitarian assistance.
