OXYGEN TO SAVE LIVES

This expansion phase of the agreement seeks to accelerate broad and equitable access and delivery of safe and effective COVID-19 vaccines, as well as reduce morbidity and mortality from COVID-19, mitigate transmission and strengthen health systems, including the pertinent to prevention, detection, and response to pandemic threats. This program mobilizes $ 3 million dollars and integrates 15 provinces of Ecuador.

RESULTS ACHIEVED

Vaccination Plan:

  • 241,128 doses inoculated in the provinces of Bolívar, Cañar, Chimborazo, Cotopaxi, Guayas, Los Ríos, Pichincha, Santa Elena, Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas, Tungurahua and Manabí:
  • 110,903 Aztrazéneca (4,303 1st dose; 4,552 2nd dose; 100,314 1st booster dose; 1,734 2nd booster dose)
  • 107,577 Pfizer (3,165 1st dose; 6,086 2nd dose; 93,528 1st booster dose; 4,798 2nd booster dose)
  • Influenza single dose 21,661
  • Tetanus single dose 987

Mental Health Program:

  • 7,449 screenings have been carried out
  • 2,093 services have been provided
  • 3,362 boardings have been performed
  • 25 referrals have been made

Community Epidemiological Surveillance Program:

  • 41 MSP tutors have been trained
  • 6 ESQUEL Foundation promoters-tutors have been trained.
  • 56 community guards have been trained in Pichincha
  • 33 community guards have been trained in Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas
  • 47 community guards have been trained in Los Ríos
  • 36 community guards have been trained in Guayas
  • 4 epidemiological surveillance focal points have been implemented.
  • 1,156 Covid-19 antibody tests have been carried out

Oxygen Program:

  • 11 health establishments with program assistance extension
  • 130,299 patients treated at triage stations
  • 48,411 patients treated with ambulatory oxygen assistance
  • 196 patients with follow-up of home oxygen therapy
  • 182,896 hours of use of oxygen concentrators
  • 18,889 monitoring calls made to beneficiary patients

Other project activities:

  • Epidemiological sweep in Muisne, Chamanga, Tonchigüe in the province of Esmeraldas
  • Health Fair in the Sangolquí canton of the province of Pichincha
  • Health Fair in the Ibarra canton of the province of Imbabura
  • La Mariscal Health Fair in the canton of Quito in the province of Pichincha.
  • Health Fair in the Alausí canton of the province of Chimborazo

Agreements have been signed with:

  • Ministry of Public Health for a support plan for the vaccination program
  • Chimborazo Governorate
  • National Council of Rural Parish Governments of Ecuador
  • 2 instances of municipal decentralized autonomous government
  • 3 universities
  • 1 organization of professional psychologists
  • 1 commitment to the MSP to support the Mental Health Plan
  • 1 commitment to the MSP to support the Epidemiological Surveillance Plan

Have joined the program:

  • 1 company providing health services for vaccination brigades
  • 6 companies producing and distributing medical oxygen
  • 1 provider of call center services for patient monitoring
  • 1 supplier of equipment and clothing
  • 1 company that provides maintenance services for oxygen concentrators
  • 1 company that donates antibody tests for Covid-19
