ALLIANCE WITH PARTNERS IN HEALTH

USAID partnership with Socios en Salud, the Peruvian affiliate of the U.S. non-profit organization Partners in Health, responds to COVID-19 in Peru. This Alliance supports aggressive contact tracing, community mobilization, and systematic screening and isolation to prevent community spread of COVID-19. The $8,261,090 million investment from USAID mobilizes additional $1 million from Boston-based Partners in Health.

OXYGEN TO SAVE LIVES

This expansion phase of the agreement seeks to accelerate broad and equitable access and delivery of safe and effective COVID-19 vaccines, as well as reduce morbidity and mortality from COVID-19, mitigate transmission and strengthen health systems, including the pertinent to prevention, detection, and response to pandemic threats. This program mobilizes $ 3 million dollars and integrates 15 provinces of Ecuador.

The USAID partnership with Asociación Benéfica PRISMA contributes to the implementation of the National COVID-19 vaccination Plan in Peru.

This Alliance will support the formulation and revision of plans, the coordination among stakeholders, the supply chain management with focus on cold chain, vaccines management, the surveillance of adverse events attributable to the vaccine, community engagement and participation, vaccine demand, and communications and advocacy. It will have a strategy focused on contributing to achieve that indigenous communities and other vulnerable populations receive the vaccine with equity.

COLLABORATION WITH PROSALUD

This collaboration between USAID and PROSALUD supports the strengthening of capacities to provide oxygen therapy in Bolivian secondary and tertiary hospitals by (1) assessing the health facilities where severely ill COVID-19 patients will receive care, (2) providing technical assistance and training in severe case management and infection prevention and control in the clinical setting;  to ensure the effective use of mechanical ventilators donated to Bolivia by USAID, (3) improving the availability of oxygen resources in priority health facilities, (4) helping to improve the vaccination rate and (5) involving communities for the reactivation of essential health programs and better respond to new threats.

Esta fase de ampliación del convenio busca acelerar el acceso y la entrega amplia y equitativa de vacunas contra COVID-19 seguras y efectivas, así como reducir la morbilidad y mortalidad por COVID-19, mitigar la transmisión, y fortalecer sistemas de salud, incluido lo pertinente a la prevención, detección y respuesta a amenazas pandémicas. Esta ampliación del programa moviliza $ 3 millones de dólares e integra a 15 provincias del país.
